This is my 34th year of teaching, my 20th here in Stanhope, and I love what I do! I received my BA in Education along with certification as Teacher of the Handicapped from Jersey City State College. My husband and I have two children, both happily out on their own. Our son served as an officer in the Marine Corps for 6 years, deploying twice to Iraq. He is now a high school math teacher in Minneapolis. Our daughter is a physical therapist at Kessler Institute in West Orange. She specializes in working with patients who have suffered brain and spinal cord injuries.
Here in room 20, I strive to provide a learning environment in which students can make steady progress toward their goals. This means the students in my classes feel safe, are comfortable taking risks by trying new ways of learning, and are unafraid to take on academic challenges. I am firm, fair, and respectful with my students and have high expectations for both student academic achievement and behavior. I model and support behaviors which encourage my students to behave in a manner appropriate for our classroom with respect for their teachers, themselves, their classmates, and the learning process.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns that arise throughout the school year. I am looking forward to a wonderful, productive 2011-12!
